What I Want and What I Need!

The late Rev. Cleophus Robinson Jr. has one of my favorite CD’s where it is titled What you Need and Donald Lawrence has one of my favorite artists (Daryl Coley) singing When Sunday Comes.

I am here reflecting on my need and want to be in the presence of two special women of which both had more pressing things to do.

One never responded to me about delivering her gift.

The other had to prepare for her church shananigans.

It was urgent that I see them, it was urgent that I spend time with them, it was urgent that I hear them speak, it was urgent that I consume them, it was urgent that I be in their presence to feel their energy.

Now, I am clear headed as to why……..

I am here reflecting on the 25th of September of 2021.

I can clearly witness us all gathering at Poppy’s house, we connected and interconnected by joining hands to pray, we got into our respective automobiles, lined up to head to the Star to have one final church service with you before the committal.

Pastor Darius final words spoke to us before your body is lowered into your awaiting graveside.

A year ago, this day was a total blur but not really.

I went through the motions emotionless but I do remember the kindness, consideration, acknowledgements, and love shown us because of you.

You touched so many people lives and their lives were made better, richer and stronger because of the man you were.

For you to be an introverted, silent, laid back, private, cool, self controlled and collected man, people came out to thank you for your time, impact, impartation, sincerity, devotion, investment, deposits, words of wit and wisdom as well as your love towards mankind over their lives.

Today, we will go see The Woman King with “my group

Who would have orchestrated just what I needed on this day other than God and you?

I as the educator, impactful, empowering, and unifying woman you married; I am doing just what I love doing on this day of which is full circle to me and speaks to what you allowed me to do and who you allowed me to be.

I have young ladies of the future in a car to go see one of the most life altering movies of which convey strength in our unity, our brilliance, our need for the young to get back at the feet of the elders and take ahold of their wisdom and run with it.
